The director Roy Andersson, one of Sweden’s most internationally acclaimed filmmakers, held the opening speech at the festival opening yesterday night. It was only natural since he is our Honorary President.
And what a speech! Funny but persuasive words about the importance of fighting for moving images with meaning and relevance. Read/see/hear the speech here:http://www.giff.se/index.php?id=275 (only in Swedish).
Followed by the world première of two films with a great deal of meaning and relevance: Tussilago by Jonas Odell and The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of José González.
Followed by a great party in the festival tent and later at Trädgår’n. A fantastic great opening night!
